Standard is the format Wizards of the Coast puts front and center — it's the primary format on MTG Arena and a mainstay of competitive organized play. The card pool rotates as new sets release and older ones cycle out, which means the metagame is always evolving and the barrier to entry stays relatively low. For competitive players, Standard is often the first format they learn, and it remains a core part of the Pro Tour and major tournament circuits.
