Legacy
A format built on Magic's full history. Legacy allows nearly every card ever printed, creating some of the most powerful and skill-intensive gameplay in the game.
Legacy is Magic with (almost) everything on the table. The format permits cards from Magic's entire history, with only a curated ban list keeping the most broken interactions in check. This means iconic, powerful cards that define Magic's identity — from Force of Will to Brainstorm — are format staples. The tradeoff is accessibility: some Legacy staples are on the Reserved List, making them expensive and hard to find. But for players who love deep strategic decision-making, intricate interactions, and a format where mastery really matters, Legacy is unmatched. It maintains a dedicated competitive community, especially in regions with established Legacy scenes.
